Thanks to the studio's effort to listen to the fans' voices for Sonic's poor design, Sonic the Hedgehog apparently displayed an extraordinary visual feast to spoil the eye. Especially in the opening scene where Sonic is still on his home planet. The scene seems to be the best scene in this film with its 3D animation that is so perfect. True to the original material of the game, this film truly satisfies the game players. It's worth the wait for any Paramount or studio effort to re-adapt the games from SEGA to the big screen.
After expressing satisfaction with the beautiful visuals, it feels worth mentioning the shortcomings of this film which is a bit boring even though the duration is only about one and a half hours. Starting from a simple script. It does not matter, but the problem is some directing treatments that are somewhat inadequate although it is also understandable considering this is the debut of the director. In addition to directing treatment, some things that should be felt from the film just seem to disappear. One of them is tension when Dr. Robotnik is chasing Sonic. In the evening Sonic and Tom Wachowski's characters still have time to have fun at the bar. And in terms of Dr. Robotnik did not look like he was in pursuit. It was precisely this effort seen the next day. Another thing that is less interesting is the slow motion scene which is very similar to the Quick Silver slow motion style in X-Men films. The scene was actually very interesting and fitting but because it had been done in the X-Men movie instead it felt strange coupled with the lack of fitting of the chosen soundtrack. Oh yes, the selection of some soundtracks outside of the music adaptations of the game was not quite right.
But still this film is arguably quite satisfying. Moreover there is Jim Carrey who is very fitting to play Dr. Robotnik and its madness. Maybe if he didn't play it, Dr. Robotnik will feel bland and this film only has Sonic as its main attraction. Given the character Tom Wachowski looks very useless and seemed to be present to accompany the Sonic character.
The surprise that was present in the mid-credit scene also seemed very meaningful and hopefully with the mid-credit scene Sonic got a sequel. A score of 3 is enough for this film. Thank you for reading this Sonic the Hedgehog review. See you in the next film review.
